Fundraising and Sources of Income
The majority of the funding for the Foundation comes from a varied mix of
public and private grants. The major human service programs are funded
through grants from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human
Services (DPHHS). Families in Partnership also receives income from
several other agencies for contracted services it provides.

The Foundation also receives grants from various state and national
granting organizations including the Montana Arts Council, the Montana
Performing Arts Consortium, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the
Western States Art Federation (WESTAF).

While most of the Foundation's income is in the form of grants virtually all
of this income is restrictive in nature. It can only be used for the specific
purposes and activities as stated in the grant. However, the Foundation
has numerous activities
which lie outside these grant parameters (this is
especially true in the area of general assistance such as Scholarships or
the Holiday Fund). And often grant funding requires matching funds that
must be matched by Sunburst.

The Sunburst Foundation attempts to meet these unfunded needs in two
primary ways. Numerous income-producing activities are held throughout
the year
(Kitchen Serenade, Chalkwalk, Sunday Sundae) to help raise the
funds needed for specific activities and programs.
The Foundation also
solicits tax-deductible contributions from the general public to help
reach these needs. If you would like to contribute, please call the
Sunburst Foundation at 406-297-0197.

The Sunburst Foundation's offices in Eureka are located in the National
Hotel building at 100 Dewey Avenue. The Foundations books and financial
records are available for public inspection at its office in Polson, MT.
